Now, finding dual rank DDR4 isn't easy (not sure about DDR5), both 8 and 16GB sticks are coming as single rank nowadays, so having 2x8 or 2x16GB will give you dual rank and you're gonna have LESS performance than a 4 stick 4 rank system. Posted on Aug 31st 2022, 22:36 Reply #2 Bruno_Oīruno_O"2 DIMMS are always better than four"įor Ryzen, 4 ranks has always been best, the difference in performance between 2 vs 4 ranks can be almost 10% in games, plenty of benchmarks / reddit / famous German overclocker videos show that iirc on AM4 there was some performance improvement to keeping Fabric fast even if desynced it just didn't get much attention because no one ran desynced daily. And optimizations to lessen the unsync penalty since it's the norm now.Īlthough, Fabric isn't strictly bound to 1:1/2/4 ratios like Intel IMC is, so maybe that's what Robert meant by Auto FCLK - you just let Fabric run as high as it can. Robert using 2000MHz FCLK as an example suggests not much has changed and it's still the same slow-ass Fabric links in there, minus generational improvements for slightly higher clock. I guess the new feature this time around is further decoupling UMC from mem clock (Gear 2-style), maybe to facilitate higher DDR5 records?ġ733MHz default Fabric sounds like a big step up over 1066MHz but that probably just from DDR5 JEDEC speeds being higher. On Ryzen you break sync with Fabric, not the UMC (has 1:2 U:M ever been a thing?). Robert trumpeting "1:1" ratio (wow that was misleading) for UMC:mem means nothing. Wondering after the last "leak" how exactly AMD achieved a 3000MHz Fabric and 1:1 UMC monumentally superior to Intel's in the same generation.this is literally just same old unsynced Fabric. Dragonfly cobalt review12/14/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() It is as a mobile DAC that the Cobalt really shines, though. It manages to do this without any subjective loss of dynamics or punch and it is a very elegant balancing act. While I would hesitate to describe either the Black or the Red as fatiguing, there is a more natural feeling to the way the Cobalt handles the unplugged version of Emily King’s Can’t Hold Me that makes it easier and more enjoyable to listen to for extended periods. There is a spaciousness and order to the music that the more affordable DAC cannot achieve as reliably. ![]() Satriani, reveals subtle details and microdynamics in Satriani’s playing that elude the DragonFly Red. Supports sample rates up to: 24-bit/96kHz PCM.Listening to the entirely instrumental Black Swans And Wormhole Wizards by Joe DETAILS Listening to the Cobalt attached directly to a Roon Nucleus+ ( HFC 439) shows that the new decoding and filter arrangements offer significant advantages over the Red. As so many rivals lack any form of driverless operation at all, this is a significant plus point for the AudioQuest. Doing so means that it doesn’t require any USB driver so you can use it on any computer. There is a method in the madness as to why the maximum sample rate of 96kHz has been selected. You can support the site directly via Paypal donations ☕. Reviewary earns Amazon affiliate commissions from qualifying purchases. Volume is adjusted on the connecting device, and the sole indicator is the DragonFly logo that lights and changes colour to indicate different sample rates. A male USB-A connection is fitted at one end and AudioQuest supplies a USB-C adapter in the box. The Cobalt uses sufficiently little power that it can be connected to a mobile phone or tablet via a relevant adapter. These refinements are partnered with a range of measures to reduce its susceptibility to noise and interference. There’s also a new filter arrangement that uses a minimum phase, slow roll off filter claimed to make it more satisfying to listen to long term. It is still built around an ESS Sabre DAC, but the higher spec ES9038Q2M is used with an ESS 9601 volume controller. Where the Cobalt differs, however, is internally. Plus the maximum sample rate supported is a relatively low 24-bit/96kHz, although native MQA decoding is supported. And it must be said, it is a bit of a head scratcher at first as there appears to be no difference between it and the Black, which is cheaper. As the latest addition to the DragonFly family, the Cobalt is designed to augment the existing Black and Red versions ( HFC 414). ![]() Magic mirror raspberry pi youtube12/14/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() The chances are that you have seen a Raspberry Pi smart mirror on YouTube or somewhere else. Playing these and similar games at 2160p and higher resolutions has only been possible for those brave enough to invest in at least one or two Titan X Pascal cards, until now. But sure enough, over the course of the past twelve months the gaming industry saw the release of at least two major titles that required framebuffers above this threshold – Watch Dogs 2 and the latest Deus Ex installment. This gap was also larger than the $350 price gap between the previous GTX 980 Ti and first-gen GTX Titan X in 20. While the Titan X pulled through most benchmarks by a significant margin of at least 15 percent over the GTX 1080, there was at least a $500 price gap between the two cards that was not easily justified for those users not requiring framebuffers above 8GB for their display setups. This is likely one reason the company chose to discontinue its Geforce GTX 980 Ti in favor of the GTX 1080 last June. According to analyst Handel Jones, the cost of producing Nvidia’s 16-nanometer wafers in 2016 was relatively 19 percent cheaper than the cost of producing previous 28-nanometer wafers two years prior. It has now decided to cut the price of the GTX 1080 to $499 in an effort to prepare more PCs for content rich, VR-ready experiences with framerates more closely resembling the panel refresh rates of modern 4K and 5K displays.Īs many investors in the industry note, the biggest driver of gross profit margins is usually the competitiveness of products in the marketplace. As a result of the new flagship product launch, along with incoming competition from AMD in the form of a new 14-nanometer Vega RX series lineup, Nvidia has now decided that the best approach for attracting professional gamers is not one where the higher-priced product has more performance “weight” than cheaper alternatives, but rather one that adopts supply-side economics – that is, by lowering barriers to the purchase of more premium hardware options. Up until this week, that card sat right beneath Titan X Pascal at $1200, but has now been preempted by a new contender in town called the Geforce GTX 1080 Ti. In the case of Geforce Pascal, it has now managed to introduce a new flagship that not only surpasses the previous flagship’s performance in every category except for compute (check), but it has also lowered the price by nearly 60 percent.ĭuring the company’s Editors Day event in San Francisco in late February, press and industry representatives were given an inside look into some further architectural improvements and performance tweaks that the company was able to bring to its Geforce GTX 1080, which was previously priced between $599 and $699 depending on the model.
